This was a fun project with Upper James Toyota who contacted me to be part of the project. They gave me a car hood and said, Go For It! My studio at that time was on James N above the acclaimed Mixed Media Given that this was a community fund-raiser, I leaned into the public for this one and on the socials, I asked people when they think of Hamilton, what words come to mind? I got so many amazing responses - all of them were included onto the hood with a cool found letter stamp tool dipped into acrylic. Also on the hood to give some structure and balance, are the street lines of the downtown core (James St N area) which are taped in and then removed post energy paint! I have no idea where the hood went, but it was an awesome project to work on and I am grateful for the support of the community to help make this happen!
This was an exciting and fabulous commission opportunity presented to me by the Joie Day Spa Team when it first opened in 2019. After some brief consultation, I was free to create 3 pieces for the main reception area of the space. The size of the work allowed me to be expressive and exploratory with my mark-making and the generous size of the work (3x5ft) provided a stronger impact for the large space.
